No team-building workshops here

At The Royals, we have action-packed all-agency adventures. We’ve been quad biking in Nelson Bay (2022), ‘laxing in Lorne (2021, 2020), and taking time out in Tasmania (2019). Our annual three-day Royals UNconference serves to celebrate our successes as a team, gives us all some time to unwind and lets us us embrace our #mostinterested ethos.

Go bigger in Texas

Each year, one very lucky Royal wins a trip to SXSW in Austin, Texas. The winner tends to eat their weight in tacos and attend extremely epic events. Could you be next?

Where the magic happens

Sydney

We opened our Sydney office in Surry Hills in 2014, filling it with mid-century furniture and a boardroom table made from a high school basketball court. The rooftop deck is the perfect place for after work drinks.

Melbourne

We opened our Melbourne office in a Cremorne warehouse in 2011, and did what any ‘normal’ business would do with the excess space - built an office chair racetrack! Now, the place is filled with beautiful Royals and features a boardroom hidden behind a bookshelf.

HOW YOU’LL CREATE UNNATURAL CHANGE

We all know change is inevitable. It's also revealing. Individually and collectively we, and our clients, get what change really is: it's a friction between then and now that you can either resist or interrogate.

The members of our Royals Context gang are client whisperers and razor-sharp strategists, with an insatiable curiosity to get under the bonnet of our clients’ business.

Our Business Directors are masters of managing relationships, problem-solving, and helping to drive creative output and business success.

Reporting to a Group Business Director, you play an integral role in the day-to-day running of the projects of client accounts and key projects, as the go-to person who is comfortable negotiating and supporting to lead the client to achieve the best results.

As a Business Director, you have an understanding of broader business issues and communication solutions. With a passion for “talking the talk”, you are a natural business developer, passionate about relationship building and proactively identifying opportunities to add value beyond brief.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT:

1. Relationships

  • Managing client stakeholder relationships
  • Spot the opportunities to add value
  • Start to develop trusting client/agency relationships by ensuring the team meets the day-to-day client needs with the relevant PM.

2. The Work

  • Supporting the strategists with the development/writing of creative briefs and strategic docs
  • Doing everything you can to inspire the best creative thinking possible
  • Having an opinion on the work, selling it in, fighting for and protecting the integrity of the idea.

3. Owning the brand

  • Do everything you can to understand your client’s business, competitors, consumers, culture, and technology
  • Be the brand champion for all your accounts – ensure all relevant people know the important stuff about your clients’ brands, category, consumers and competitors
  • An interest in developing your strategic capabilities

4. Project Management

  • The ability to think ahead and proactively plan and assign workload based on business and client needs
  • Manage up to your Group Business Director on your accounts relationship and financial health, from forecast tracking, budgets, and project status
  • Partner with PMs on budget recommendations, timelines, work goals, measurements, and training requirements necessary to provide both quality and profitable service to your client
  • Ensure meeting agendas are prepared prior to every client meeting
  • Ensure the team delivers WIP documents and contact reports for every client meeting
  • Know your client’s remuneration model inside out
  • Manage client expectations. Underpromise and over-deliver every time.


5. Leadership

  • Relish in supporting the training, development, and day-to-day management of Business Managers and Business Execs.

  • A minimum of 4-6 years of agency experience
  • A passion for identifying unique ways to solve a problem or express an idea
  • You are ambitious, driven, and looking for career growth.
  • You’re adept at spinning multiple plates, resilient, and working at a fast pace
  • Solid financial acumen, and a hunger for identifying new opportunities (both current and new clients)
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
  • Experience in multi-channel marketing, the production, and rollout of integrated campaigns
  • Have experience in coaching and mentoring more junior team members.
